The Punjab government has announced a proposed increase in the minimum wage to Rs. 37,000, a rise of Rs. 5,000 from the current rate.
Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman revealed this during the presentation of the budgetary proposals for the fiscal year 2024-25.
Currently, the minimum wage in Punjab stands at Rs. 32,000. This proposal aligns with a similar increase suggested by the federal government, which also aims to raise the minimum wage from Rs. 32,000 to Rs. 37,000 in the federal budget.
Furthermore, the Punjab government has proposed a salary increase of up to 25 percent and a 15 percent increase in pensions. These proposals are expected to be approved and will take effect from July 1, 2024.
