The Punjab government has made a significant decision to procure 300 electric buses for Lahore, as announced by senior provincial minister Marriyum Aurangzeb during a meeting chaired by Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz.
This move comes as part of the government’s focus on sustainable urban development and efficient public transportation systems.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was briefed on the comprehensive plans to introduce 300 electric buses in Lahore, alongside an additional 330 electric buses to be deployed in other cities across Punjab.
The gathering, which lasted for five hours, primarily aimed to review the progress of the Punjab Chief Minister’s 33 special projects and initiatives.
In addition to the electric buses, the meeting highlighted significant milestones in healthcare infrastructure. The first phase of construction and refurbishment of rural and basic health centers is set to be completed by October, with major hospitals scheduled for vaccination completion by June, as reported by Aurangzeb.
A substantial investment of Rs. 176 billion has been earmarked for the construction of expressways on crucial routes, further enhancing connectivity and transportation efficiency in the region.
Furthermore, in line with directives from CM Maryam Nawaz, a dedicated complaint number will be established for all departments to streamline public feedback and improve service delivery. The introduction of air ambulance services by June and motorway ambulance services by December also reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing emergency response capabilities.
These initiatives underscore the Punjab government’s proactive approach towards sustainable development, improved healthcare services, and enhanced public infrastructure to benefit the citizens of Lahore and other cities within the province.
