Hollywood actor and musician Jamie Foxx finds himself entangled in a legal battle as he faces sexual assault and battery charges in a lawsuit filed with the New York State Supreme Court.
The alleged incident, dating back to 2015, reportedly took place at Catch NYC, a popular New York City restaurant, according to details outlined in the complaint obtained by CNN.
The plaintiff, identified as Jane Doe, contends in the lawsuit that Jamie Foxx “intentionally and without consent used force to offensively touch Plaintiff’s person,” including groping her breasts and genitals. The complaint further suggests that Foxx appeared “intoxicated” at the time of the incident. CNN has reached out to a representative for the plaintiff for comment.
As a result of the alleged incident, the complaint states that the woman has suffered and continues to suffer “physical and emotional injuries, anxiety, distress, embarrassment, and economic harm,” seeking an unspecified amount in damages.
In response to the accusations, a spokesperson for Jamie Foxx vehemently denied the claims in a statement to CNN on Thursday, asserting that the alleged incident never occurred.
The spokesperson highlighted that a similar lawsuit was filed in 2020 in Brooklyn, only to be dismissed shortly thereafter. Foxx’s legal team expressed confidence that the claims would be dismissed again, intending to pursue a claim for malicious prosecution against the plaintiff and her attorneys for re-filing what they deem a “frivolous action.”
The plaintiff is not only targeting Jamie Foxx but is also suing the restaurant’s parent company, Catch Hospitality Group, and various related business entities as defendants. The grounds for this aspect of the lawsuit include allegations of negligent hiring, training, and supervision.
