YouTube is simplifying the video-watching experience by introducing a new feature that allows users to effortlessly discover content. This upcoming feature, known as the “Random Video” button, will appear prominently within your YouTube feed.
When activated, it will play a randomly selected Shorts video tailored to your interests and preferences. This innovative addition has already been observed by several users of the YouTube Android app.
The recent finding of YouTube’s “Random Video” button isn’t the first encounter with this feature.
In May, a Reddit user initially reported its existence, indicating that YouTube has been quietly testing it for some time. Furthermore, another black button with the same randomizing function is expected to be located in the bottom right corner of the feed.
As previously mentioned, these randomize buttons are likely undergoing simultaneous testing, even though they’ve surfaced at different times for various users.
While the specifics of this feature remain somewhat elusive, YouTube has yet to make an official announcement. Nevertheless, it’s evident that this button is engineered to select content based on your individual viewing history, subscribed channels, liked videos, and other relevant factors.
As of now, the button is only accessible to a limited number of users and hasn’t been formally incorporated into YouTube’s experiments. In YouTube experiments, select users get to try out new features before they are rolled out to the broader public.
It’s likely that YouTube will officially acknowledge this feature in the near future, offering more details as it gets closer to a wider release.
