Pakistan’s Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq has resigned from his post. The former cricket legend has sent his resignation to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf.
Earlier today, Zaka Ashraf summoned Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq to Gaddafi Stadium for an investigation. According to reports, Inzamam-ul-Haq was accused of having a partnership with players’ agent Talha Rahmani in the UK and also accused of shareholding and profit sharing in British company Yazoo.
This disclosure has sparked worries regarding potential conflicts of interest since Rehmani legally represents several of Pakistan’s prominent cricketers, such as Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi.
In a recent interview with a local news channel, Zaka Ashraf, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee, hinted at the possibility of launching an inquiry into Inzamam’s alleged association with a players’ agent’s firm.
This move reflects the commitment of the PCB to ensuring that the selection process for the national cricket team remains free from controversy and maintains the highest standards of integrity.
Inzamam-ul-Haq’s resignation, while a significant development in the world of Pakistani cricket, leaves fans awaiting further details and the outcome of the ongoing investigation. It remains to be seen how this situation will impact the selection process and the future of Pakistan’s national team who are currently in India competing in the 2023 World Cup.
