Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz harshly criticized the Supreme Court’s recent decision, labeling it an attempt to create instability. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Model Bazaar in Township on Friday, Maryam Nawaz expressed her discontent, stating that whenever the country moves towards stability, someone tries to disrupt it. She remarked on the negative impacts caused by certain individuals and decisions that hinder progress.
Maryam Nawaz accused the Supreme Court of rewriting the Constitution, specifically pointing out Justice Umar Ata Bandial’s involvement. She asserted that a defeated individual, who she considers a criminal of the nation, is responsible for the current hardships faced by Pakistan. She accused the Supreme Court of favoring this individual, providing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) with unmerited advantages.
“The person responsible for the country’s destruction is sitting in Adiala Jail,” Maryam Nawaz declared, contrasting the accomplishments of her party, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), during their three terms in government with the destruction caused by the PTI’s four-year tenure. She emphasized that Nawaz Sharif had ended the country’s reliance on the International Monetary Fund (IMF), only for the PTI to reintroduce it.
Maryam Nawaz urged the Supreme Court judges to allow the country to progress without interference, stating that their government would complete its five-year term despite any conspiracies. She criticized Imran Khan, accusing him of causing chaos and destruction during his tenure. She vowed to continue speaking out against these issues, emphasizing her commitment to the country’s development and well-being.
In her speech, Maryam Nawaz also highlighted the successes of the Model Bazaar initiative. She praised Afzal Khokhar for establishing these bazaars, which offer discounted prices on various items, benefiting the public. She announced plans to expand the Model Bazaar initiative to all districts of Punjab, ensuring that more people could access affordable goods.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized her dedication to reducing inflation and maintaining stable prices for essential items like bread and flour. She mentioned the upcoming launch of a home delivery service from Model Bazaars, making it easier for people to access discounted goods. She also announced a significant solar project aimed at providing free solar panels to consumers of up to 200 units and offering solar systems in installments to those using 200 to 500 units.
The Chief Minister of Punjab praised the efforts of rescue and law enforcement agencies during Muharram and highlighted her administration’s commitment to providing public services without discrimination. She noted that this was the first Muharram where internet services were not shut down and processions were monitored via drone cameras.
Maryam Nawaz concluded her speech by commending the exemplary work of the administration and security agencies, expressing her commitment to continuing these efforts for the betterment of the public.
