The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to further increase the salaries of its employees to provide relief amid rising inflation.
In the budget for the fiscal year 2024-25, the provincial government had already announced a 10% increase for all employees. However, it has now decided to implement a 25% salary hike for government employees from Grades 1 to 16, aligning with the increment approved by the federal government. Employees of Grade 17 and above will receive a 20% increase in their salaries. Additionally, pensions will be increased by a further 10%.
KP Finance Advisor Muzammil Aslam, in a video message, stated that the federal government had announced a 25% salary increase for employees from Grade 1 to 16 and a 20% increase for those in Grade 17 and above, along with a 15% increase in pensions. Following this pattern, the KP Cabinet has also approved similar increases in salaries and pensions.
Aslam mentioned that the formal notification for these additional increases in salaries will be issued soon. He noted that these increases would impose an additional burden of Rs. 75 to 80 billion on the provincial treasury.
