WhatsApp is making chatting easier with a new voice note-to-text conversion feature, now available in Beta.
As one of 2024’s most used apps, WhatsApp is testing this feature on phones, offering text versions of voice messages—a capability iPhones have had since May. This feature is part of the latest WhatsApp beta app update (version 2.24.15.5).
The WABetaInfo team provided a screenshot showcasing this new feature. The voice message transcription supports multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Hindi, with more languages planned for future updates. Users will need to download additional language packs to ensure the transcribed messages remain private and secure on their devices.
While there is no specific release date for Pakistan, the feature may initially struggle with Urdu voice messages. However, the existing support for Hindi might allow some Urdu messages to be transcribed accurately. Overall, transcription accuracy is expected to be higher for English messages.
Although WhatsApp hasn’t announced an official release date, the feature’s presence in the beta version suggests it will be available on the main app soon.
