Bangladesh has named seasoned all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan in their 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, set to be held in the West Indies and the United States.
The team, led by batsman Najmul Hossain Shanto, faced uncertainty over Shakib’s availability due to an eye issue, but his return strengthened Bangladesh’s prospects with his vast experience.
Shakib’s return to T20 internationals follows a year-long break, marked by a successful comeback in the recent home series against Zimbabwe, where he took five wickets across two matches.
The addition of pace bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who impressed in the 4-1 series win, and the recall of Shoriful Islam further bolsters Bangladesh’s squad for the tournament.
Bangladesh, placed in World Cup Group D with Sri Lanka, South Africa, the Netherlands, and Nepal, is gearing up for a competitive event scheduled from June 1 to June 29.
