Apple Original Films has announced that Cameron Diaz is in the final stages of negotiations to star alongside John Wick star Keanu Reeves in the upcoming dark comedy titled, Outcome.
Directed by Jonah Hill from a screenplay co-written with Ezra Woods, Outcome will see Keanu Reeves portraying Reef, a troubled Hollywood star who is forced to confront his past demons and seek redemption after being blackmailed with a mysterious video clip from his past.
While specifics of Diaz’s role remain under wraps, her potential casting marks a significant addition to the film. Known for her comedic prowess in films like The Mask, My Best Friend’s Wedding, and There’s Something About Mary, Diaz’s career has grossed over $7 billion worldwide. Additionally, her dramatic performances in movies such as Being John Malkovich and Gangs of New York have earned her nominations for prestigious awards including the Golden Globe, SAG, and BAFTA.
After taking a hiatus from acting in 2018 to focus on her ventures as a bestselling author and entrepreneur, Diaz’s involvement in Outcome signals her return to the spotlight. This follows her highly anticipated appearance opposite Jamie Foxx in the Netflix action comedy Back in Action, which marked her official “un-retirement.”
Outcome will be produced by Jonah Hill, Matt Dines, and Ali Goodwin under their Strong Baby banner. The collaboration between Hill and Apple Original Films extends beyond this project, as they are also developing a biopic about the Grateful Dead with Martin Scorsese’s Sikelia Productions. Hill is set to star and produce in the biopic, which will be directed by Scorsese and written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski.
The addition of Cameron Diaz to the cast of Outcome adds further anticipation to the project, promising an intriguing blend of comedy and darkness under the direction of Jonah Hill.
