Islamabad – In a significant development, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) approved a 14-day judicial remand for former Pakistani Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan on Thursday.
The case is linked to the fierce events of May 9, a period ruined by violent protests targeting sensitive state and military systems.
The May 9 attacks, allegedly carried out by emotional supporters of Imran Khan, were described as attempts toward mutiny or civil conflict in a country already grappling with terrorism and financial crises.
The incidents prompted a widespread crackdown against the former ruling party.
During the court proceedings held at Adiala Jail and presided over by Judge Malik Ijaz Asif, the ATC approved a two-week judicial remand for Imran Khan in 12 cases related to the May 9 rebels. The court’s decision followed police urging for a 30-day physical remand, which was ultimately turned down, with a 14-day judicial remand granted instead.
Advocate Malik Faisal and Sardar Shahbaz Khosa represented Imran Khan in the courtroom, navigating the legal proceedings on behalf of the former premier.
