HBO’s hit series The Last of Us has secured acclaimed actress Kaitlyn Dever for a pivotal role in its upcoming Season 2.

Kaitlyn Dever will take on the character of Abby, described as “a skilled soldier whose black-and-white view of the world is challenged as she seeks vengeance for those she loved.”

The series co-creators, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, expressed their enthusiasm for Dever’s inclusion in the cast, highlighting their commitment to finding world-class actors who embody the essence of the characters from the source material. Dever joins Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, who play Joel and Ellie, respectively.

Dever has received accolades for her work, including a Golden Globe nomination for Unbelievable and Golden Globe and Emmy nominations for Dopesick.

The Last of Us is adapted from the popular video game created by Neil Druckmann and developed by Naughty Dog. Set two decades after the collapse of modern civilization, the story follows Joel (Pedro Pascal), a hardened survivor hired to smuggle Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. The series explores their arduous journey through a post-apocalyptic U.S., where survival depends on their unwavering reliance on each other.

Season 1 featured a stellar ensemble cast, including Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Melanie Lynskey, Storm Reid, Merle Dandridge, Jeffrey Pierce, Lamar Johnson, Keivonn Woodard, Graham Greene, Elaine Miles, Ashley Johnson, and Troy Baker.

The show, co-produced by HBO and Sony Pictures Television, has proven to be a critical and commercial success. The first season received numerous award nominations, including three Golden Globe and 25 Emmy nominations.
