The Two Holy Mosques in Saudi Arabia have embraced cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and digital techniques, to enrich guidance and counseling services for visitors and pilgrims at the Grand Mosque.
This transformative initiative, detailed by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), unfolds through the deployment of 52 strategically positioned screens both inside and outside the Grand Mosque, covering a vast area of 279 square meters and operating 24/7.
The General Authority for Affairs takes charge of distributing tailored guidance content through these screens. A specialized team of esteemed scholars curates this content, ensuring its relevance and appropriateness for the diverse needs of the mosque’s visitors. To accommodate varied linguistic backgrounds, the content is translated into multiple languages.
Strategically positioned at entrances, exits, courtyards, and roads leading to the Grand Mosque, these digital screens offer comprehensive coverage, delivering valuable guidance to pilgrims throughout their journey.
AI-Guidance Robot
In a leap towards innovation, the authorities have introduced an interactive AI-guidance robot as part of this initiative. Designed to assist pilgrims, the robot provides essential brochures and publications to facilitate religious rituals. Pilgrims can access and share informative content using their mobile phones, enhancing the overall experience at the Grand Mosque.
Saudi Arabia’s integration of AI and digital innovations at the Grand Mosque marks a significant step towards enriching the pilgrimage experience.
With tailored guidance, multilingual support, and the introduction of an AI-guidance robot, pilgrims receive invaluable assistance, fostering a seamless and spiritually fulfilling journey at this sacred site.
