The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has declared a three-day closure starting from Saturday, 23 December 2023, to Monday, 25 December 2023, in honor of Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas.
This decision, in accordance with the declaration by the Government of Pakistan, extends the public holiday to Monday, leading to the closure of the State Bank of Pakistan and all commercial banks for the entire weekend.
In an official circular released today, the central bank stated, “The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed on December 25, 2023 (Monday) being a public holiday on the occasions of Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas, as declared by the Government of Pakistan.”
This announcement ensures that financial institutions, including commercial banks, will observe a three-day break, with doors remaining closed on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
It is a thoughtful gesture by the banking sector to acknowledge and respect the cultural and religious significance of both Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas.
Customers are advised to plan their banking activities accordingly, considering the extended closure period. ATMs and online banking services may still be accessible, but certain transactions and services requiring in-person assistance may experience delays.
As the nation takes a collective pause to commemorate the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and celebrate the joyous occasion of Christmas, the banking community joins in by temporarily suspending regular operations.
This three-day break not only allows bank employees to participate in the festivities and observances but also provides customers with the opportunity to plan their financial activities ahead of time.
It is a time for reflection, celebration, and unity as people from different backgrounds come together to honor the legacy of Quaid-e-Azam and celebrate the spirit of Christmas.
As the holiday season approaches, the State Bank of Pakistan and commercial banks wish everyone a joyous Quaid-e-Azam Day and a Merry Christmas.
Regular banking operations are set to resume on Tuesday, 26 December 2023. Until then, the banking community encourages everyone to enjoy the festivities responsibly and in the spirit of harmony.
