Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir expressed his joy as Quetta Gladiators drafted him in the Platinum Category during the player draft on Wednesday, December 13.
Amir, a left-arm fast bowler, emerged as a wildcard entry in the Platinum Category, being one of the top picks in Round 1. This move came shortly after his release from the Karachi Kings.
The Quetta Gladiators wasted no time in securing Amir as their Platinum pick in the early stages of the draft. Alongside Amir, they also added West Indies all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford to their squad.
In the same round, Multan Sultans opted for David Willey, while Karachi Kings chose Kieron Pollard. Peshawar Zalmi added Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad to their roster, and Lahore Qalandars secured the flamboyant opener Fakhar Zaman.
David Willey, making a return to the Pakistan Super League (PSL), was the first pick in the platinum category during the drafting ceremony for PSL 9.
This drafting ceremony follows Willey’s decision to retire from international cricket after England’s World Cup campaign, where he played a crucial role in their 93-run victory in the last group match.
Amir’s inclusion in the Quetta Gladiators’ lineup adds a dynamic element to their bowling resource, setting the stage for an exciting season of PSL cricket. Fans can anticipate thrilling performances as the teams ready for PSL 9.
