Award-winning actor and comedian Anthony Anderson has been chosen to host the prestigious 75th Emmy Awards on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 15, 2024.
The three-hour ceremony, originally scheduled for September 2023 but delayed due to industry strikes, will be broadcast live on Fox coast-to-coast.
In a statement, Anderson humorously addressed the recent Hollywood labor unrest and the entertainment industry’s resilience.
With our industry’s recent challenges behind us, we can get back to what we love — dressing up and honoring ourselves. And there’s no better celebratory moment to bring the creative community together than the milestone 75th Emmy Awards.
Acknowledging the significance of the occasion, Anderson expressed his excitement about hosting the “biggest night in television.” He playfully added, “When Fox asked me to host this historic telecast, I was over the moon that Taylor Swift was unavailable, and now I can’t wait to be part of the biggest night in television.”
Having earned 11 nominations for his work on ABC’s Black-ish over the past decade, Anderson is no stranger to the Emmy stage.
Academy Chair Frank Scherma expressed enthusiasm about Anderson’s hosting role, stating, “Anthony is a multi-talented performer and a great friend to the Television Academy. We are thrilled that he is hosting what promises to be a rich celebration of the year’s outstanding television, as well as 75 years of Emmys excellence!”
The live Emmy telecast from the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles promises to be a star-studded event, celebrating the best in television over the past year and honoring 75 years of Emmy history.
