In the aftermath of Australia’s triumphant victory in the 2023 World Cup in India, a seemingly harmless celebratory act has sparked controversy as Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela expressed her disdain for Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh for being disrespectful to the coveted trophy.

Urvashi, who was honored with unveiling the World Cup trophy at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, took to social media to slam the Aussie over a now-viral picture in which Marsh has his feet nonchalantly resting on the prestigious trophy.

The Indian actress did not hold back in criticizing what she perceived as Marsh’s attempt to appear “cool” at the expense of the trophy’s dignity.

To emphasize her point, Urvashi shared a collage, featuring Kapil Dev in 1983 and Lionel Messi in 2022. In the first picture it showed Indian legend Kapil Dev exuberantly lifting the trophy on his head after India’s historic 1983 World Cup victory. The second portrayed soccer icon Lionel Messi peacefully asleep with the 2022 FIFA World Cup he secured for Argentina. The third image featured Urvashi herself, tenderly planting a kiss on the trophy against the romantic backdrop of Paris.

Australia, in their iconic yellow, secured a resounding victory against the previously undefeated India, claiming their sixth ODI World Cup title with a convincing 6-wicket win on November 19. Despite India posting a total of 240 runs, it proved insufficient to thwart the ambitions of the most successful team in ODI World Cup history.

Travis Head’s exceptional century, complemented by Marnus Labuschagne’s fifty, played a pivotal role in Australia’s triumphant campaign.
