Hollywood legend Arnold Schwarzenegger has claimed he’d make a great president for the United States of America. The Terminator star was in London to promote his new book, “Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life.”
In an interview with BBC, Schwarzenegger candidly shared his thoughts on his career, achievements, and his ambitions. Arnold, who has served as the Governor of California, also expressed his desire to take the highest office in the land.
Despite his numerous accomplishments, Schwarzenegger acknowledged one significant obstacle standing in his path – the U.S. Constitution, which mandates that anyone serving as the President must be a natural-born citizen. Unfortunately, the Hollywood star hails from Thal, Austria, where he resided until the age of 19.
When asked about the personal impact of this disqualification, Schwarzenegger, with his trademark style, said,
“I feel like I would make a great president. But I feel that, at the same time, everything I’ve accomplished was because of America.”
He went on to reflect on his incredible journey, stating, “America gave me so many opportunities, and the American people were so embracive, and they just received me with open arms. There was no one there that stopped me from my success. So the only thing that I can’t do, which is run for president, I’m not going to complain about.”
The former action hero still hinted that he had not entirely given up hope of one day potentially occupying the highest office in the nation. He acknowledged the constitutional limitations and the need for immigration reform, saying,
“I mean OK, there is the constitution. We need some immigration reform, absolutely, to change that. But it would be a little bit selfish if I go out and try to change the law.”
