In response to a surge in passport applications, the Government has made changes to the official passport delivery times, aiming to improve efficiency and service quality.
In a recent announcement by the Director General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP), the following revisions to passport delivery times have been introduced:
Normal Passport: The delivery time for a normal passport has been extended to 21 working days, up from the previous 10 days.
Urgent Passport: Urgent passport delivery now takes 5 days instead of the previous 4.
Fast-Track Passport: The delivery time for fast-track passports remains unchanged, continuing to be delivered within 2 days, as per the previous schedule.
Updated Passport Delivery Times
- Normal: 21 days (previously 10 days)
- Urgent: 5 days (previously 4 days)
- Fast Track: 2 days (unchanged)
It’s important to note that the delivery time for fast-track passports remains highly efficient and unchanged.
In addition to these changes, the DGIP has emphasized the importance of adhering to the designated office hours. Passport offices are open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. from Monday to Thursday and from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Fridays.
For any concerns or complaints, applicants are encouraged to use the Pakistan Citizen Portal or contact the DGIP helpline at 051-111-344-777 for assistance.
Earlier this year, delivery times for passports had been significantly reduced, reflecting the government’s commitment to streamlining the passport issuance process.
On a separate note, it’s worth mentioning that the Pakistani passport still faces challenges in international rankings. According to Henley & Partners, a UK-based citizenship and residence advisory firm, the Pakistani passport is currently ranked as the fourth-worst passport in the world. We hope these changes will lead to improved passport services and a more efficient application process for citizens. Stay updated for further developments.
